Mayor Lead’s precession

Mayor Cllr Sue Newham and Deputy Mayor Cllr Susan Hill lead Newtown’s 130th Carnival after judging the floats. On a day that gives so many people in the town a great time, the weather held out for the most part. Thousands of people lined the streets to see the floats through the centre of Newtown.

“The whole community comes together on carnival day, It is great to see so many people dressed up. I was amazed by the quality of the floats and the walkers' costumes, and by how many people came out to watch and take photos. The whole procession really had a feel-good factor.

Thanks to everyone who puts so much energy into organising it every year.”

Trenor Multi Use Games Area.

Refurbishment of the Trenor games area has been complete, repairs and maintenance to the area including new fencing has transformed a tired looking patch of tarmac into an excellent place for all ages to enjoy a range of sports in a safe and well maintained environment.

Reserved Fire fighter Employers award.

Employers that employ retained fire fighters will be awarded with a special award from Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town council. The award recognises how important it is to employ and support retained fire fighters in our community and it couldn’t come at a more poignant time.

Walking Newtown Notice Board

In a bid to attract walkers to Newtown as a walking destination, Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn town Council have working with the Walking Newtown group to install a new notice board to be placed in Broad Street to provide information on the Walking Newtown scheme.

Co-option

Your Town Council is a bit short of councillors. In the elections only 12 people put their names in for election and we need 16 to do all the work and make sure everywhere is represented. Are you interested? Do you want to know more? Have a look at our website www.newtown.org.uk.

The co-option will take place at the meeting of the full council on 26th June, if you are interested in this opportunity please contact Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council on 01686 625544 by 5pm on 19th June.
