Newtown Town Council Community Fund Supports More Local Groups with £8.5K
Another round of the popular Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council Community Fund has granted over £8,500 to support 11 local groups and projects at a reception and awards presentation evening in the council chamber on 6th December.
With over £9,500 already awarded earlier in the year, this now brings the total for the year to over £18,000 to 28 local groups.
Welcoming group leaders to the presentations, Cllr David Selby, Chair of the council’s Resources Committee, said “It’s wonderful that our town has such a variety of voluntary groups. The community scheme is designed to help these groups develop and grow. Well done to all the successful groups this year, and the Town Council looks forward to continuing the scheme next year.”
The Mayor Cllr Sue Newham, supported by Deputy Mayor Cllr Susan Hill, remarked on the success of the community fund since its launch in 2015 and made the individual presentations of between £500 and £1,000 to: Newtown Dragons Cricket Club, Kelly's Kats, Motor Neuron Disease Association, South Montgomeryshire Volunteer Bureau, Newtown Silver Band, Play Montgomeryshire, 2nd Newtown Guide Unit, Stroke Association Neuro Café, Arts Connection, Menter Maldwyn, and Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre.
Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council supports groups and projects within its community, holding holds two rounds of funding each year with applications invited by April and September. To find out more about the community fund, visit: the community fund webpage here.
