(This will go to the Mayors Charity) The age limit is 16 and over.

Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council provides grant aid to various local charitable organisations. Any group interested in applying for a grant should contact Newtown Town Council, Town Council Offices, The Cross, Broad Street, Newtown. SY16 2BB or telephone 01686 625544 for an application form.
Application forms should be returned to the office by 31st March 2009 for consideration at the April Council meeting.

Grants for free home insulation regardless of who owns the property and no means testing for the over 70s. Absolute right for them to receive free cavity wall and loft insulation or free top-ups to modern standards. Same help to households in receipt of attendance allowance, disibility living allowance or employment and support allowance (Incapacity benefit) single parent allowance or households with yound children with an annual income of less than £14,600.
Access to the Priority Service Register, with free annual gas appliance safety checks, passwords for official gas and electricity-related callers. Third party, Braille, large print and talking billing.
Flexible payment options for customers in fuel debt.

The home helpline also recognises that those moast in need of help are often those least able to access it so the helpline now accepts third party applications including calls from friends, relatives and neighbours, clergy on behalf of pensioners, healthcare professionals on behalf of patients, volunteers on behalf of those they assist. Lines are open 9am-8pm Mon-Fri and 10 am-2pm on Saturdays. The Town Council of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn manages the town's tourist information boards which show a map of Newtown and provide local information. They are situated at various locations around the town, including the car parks, Railway Station, High Street, Bear Lanes Shopping Centre and Shortbridge Street.
Local businesses are given the opportunity to advertise on these boards, for only £10 plus VAT per month for an A3 advert. Advertising space on the boards is available now and any businesses interested should contact the Town Council on 01686 625544.
